  • In 2012, our feral cat colony started out as one litter of kittens who wandered into our yard from the creek. We trapped the kittens and took them to a spay/neuter clinic at Pet Friends in Hollister. Since the wild kittens were too feral for adoption we released them into the creek after they recovered from their appointment. We continued to trap cats in the creek to try to prevent any more litters. Since we took responsibility for the kittens we had to put food, water and shelters out for the kittens. It seems there is a kitty message board out there. Our litter let the secret slip and many other cats have migrated into the creek. We have caught over 30 cats since 2012. They have all had their day at Pet Friends. Only 2 of the trapped cats were already spayed/ neutered. The Feral Cat Porch Colony reside around our back porch. The Feral Cat Creek Colony are a bit more shy and reside in the creek. A couple of the feral cats choose to reside in the front yard. All the cats are social with each other and have built very bonded relationships.  For updates on our colony, remember to like us on Facebook and follow us on Instagram.
